What it is

Abyss Diver is a free, browser-based exploration game. There's no combat and no score — the point is to pick a craft, drift through a hand-built low-poly ocean full of fish, and see what's on the other side of the five gates ringing each world.

The two oceans

The First Ocean is reef and rock: sand terrain scattered with boulders and pebbles of every size. Fly through any of its five binary-coded gates and you'll surface in the Trees Ocean instead, where bare, branching trees grow up from the seabed in place of stone. Every gate has a matching gate on the other side, so you can always find your way back.

Three craft

Submarine

Steady handling, a wide turning circle, and the calmest ride of the three.

Alien craft

A glowing drifter with a wider hull — trades a little agility for presence.

Plane

The fastest and most agile of the three, with the smallest collision size.

Signing in

Signing in with Google is optional and only needed to appear on the Explorers list on the home page. It reads your name and profile picture from your Google account — nothing else — and none of it is used for anything but that list. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Built with

The game runs entirely in the browser using Three.js for the 3D scene and the Web Audio API for the engine and bubble sounds — there's nothing to install. Terrain streams in around you in chunks as you move, so the ocean has no visible edges.
